Jakarta – Indo Defence Expo & Forum, 2 – 5 November. One of Southeast Asia's biggest trade, expo, and conference on defence, aerospace and marine industry, Indo Defence, will be held at Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) Kemayoran, Jakarta. Over 750 companies from 55 countries will showcase the latest technology and system of defence industry. Visitors can also attend the international conference and live product demonstration. The exhibition is free of admissions for professional and trade visitors and will be open for general public on the last day only. Indocomtech 2016, 2 – 6 November. Indocomtech is the largest IT Exhibition in Indonesia that will be held at Jakarta Convention Center. Variety of IT-based companies nationally and internationally, such as mobile phone, online game, computer and many more will introduce their products to Indonesian public. Lots of promotion, new product launching, and competition activities can be found during the event. Manufacturing Indonesia, 30 November – 3 December. Manufacturing Indonesia is a well-known exhibition and respected among manufacturing industry professionals. This 27th show will be held at Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Jakarta and will be differentiated into three different main events, including tools and hardware, machine tool and industrial automation and logistics. The event will accommodate industry leaders and key players of the global manufacturing industry to show their products and services.
Singapore - Orchard Road Christmas Light-Up, Mid-November-Early-January 2017. For six weeks from the middle of November, Orchard Road is at its most enchanting, transformed into a sparkling fairyland when night falls. It’s every shutterbug’s dream, full of magical memories (and snapshots!). Along the 2.2-kilometre stretch from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura be dazzled by millions of glittering lights dripping from decorated trees and majestic arches. Have fun with the myriad of street performances that take place at this special time, creating a wonderful carnival-like atmosphere. Shoppers will also enjoy the precinct-wide promotions and other exciting events here. ZoukOut, December. Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia Fashion Week 2016, 2-5 November. Malaysia Fashion Week (MFW) is the nation’s largest lifestyle and fashion exhibition held in Kuala Lumpur featuring designers from over 15 countries. This stylist gala event and trade show unveils Malaysia’s best of the best collections, with Asian designers and others each respectively coming under either Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week banner or Malaysia Fashion Showcase banner. It is indeed a celebration of fashion showcase. Christmas, 25 December. Traditionally, Christmas is all about a family gathering over a dinner with turkey, gift exchange, building a snowman and decorating a Christmas tree. In Malaysia, although there is no a snow, the atmosphere of Christmas remains in Kuala Lumpur itself. As one of the biggest festive occasions celebrated around the world, expect to hear bell chimes and Christmas carols in the air with elaborate, bright Christmas themed decorations will be a sight to see in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur. Bali - Nusa Dua Fiesta 2016, 12-20 November 2016. Nusa Dua Fiesta is an annual festival that showcases art exhibitions, cultural performances and sporting events in the area of Nusa Dua. Perfect for an exploration of the various cultures of Bali, this event can be enjoyed with friends, loved ones and family. Located in the Peninsula island just 10 minutes walk from our resort, there are full ranges of activities that visitors can choose take part in. World Tour Julio Iglesias 2016, 12 November 2016. As part of the Nusa Dua Fiesta opening, legendary Spanish musician Julio Iglesias will perform a special concert as part of his world tour and as a highlight of the Nusa Dua Fiesta in its 20th year. With an outdoor location, the concert aims to provide a great live music experience for visitors. The concert is located in the Peninsula island, just 10 minutes outside our hotel. Tumpek Kandang, Bali, 26 November 2016. Tumpek Kandang is a day dedicated to bless the animals, livestock and pets and variety of offerings are made to the Hindu god Rudra for bountiful farming and animal welfare. This celebration is just one of Bali’s unique holy days that happen throughout the year. Tumpek Wayang, Bali, 31 December 2016. Tumpek Wayang is a day filled with blessings for the traditional performing art of shadow puppetry, hence the name ‘Wayang’ which means theatrical performance with puppets in English. Various offerings are made for the character puppets and the equipment involved in the theatrical performances.
Kota Kinabalu - Kokol Hill Challenge, 7 November 2016. Push yourself to greater heights and sign up for the Kokol Hill Challenge. There are four categories; Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Veteran Men’s Open and Veteran Women’s Open, with prizes for the Top 5 in each category. The 17km run kicks off from the Menggatal Padang at 6.00am. Bamboo Music Festival, 23 November 2016. Bamboo is a multipurpose and readily renewable resource widely used in Sabah to produce wind and percussion instruments such as the sompoton (bamboo aerophone) and seruling (flute). Come and celebrate the versatility of Sabah’s bamboo music instruments at Tun Hamdan Community Hall, Tamparuli. A day filled with cultural activities such as traditional music performances by the Bamboo Orchestra, traditional sports, bamboo product exhibits and sales. Kinabalu Park Community Day, 2-3 December 2016. Kinabalu Park Community Day acknowledges the local communities residing around the Kinabalu Park and celebrates the listing of the park as one of UNESCO’s World Herritage Sites. During these two days, mountain climbing is reserved for the local community in the area and rituals will be performed according to local customs before ascending Mount Kinabalu. Cultural performances will also be held at the Kinabalu Park Hill. 2nd Kiulu Adventure Challenge, 4 December 2016. This Challenge pushes adventure enthusiasts to the limits through running, mountain biking, rafting and many other outdoor activities, held in the scenic district of Kiulu.
Saigon - Japan festival, 18-20 November 2016. The festival will take place at 23/9 Park in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The fourth Vietnam – Japan festival will be organized in a large scale with some activities of cultural exchange and art program including artistic performances, cuisine exchanges, cosplay, product exhibitions, and interactions with Japanese businesses among others. There are 30 stalls of trade promotion and forum of agriculture at the festival in order to enhance a cooperating relationship between Japan and Vietnam. The festival was first organized in 2013 to mark the 40th anniversary of Japan-Vietnam diplomatic relations and has been held annually ever since at 23/9 Park in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Enjoy a tropical Christmas in Saigon, 25 December 2016. Over the years, Christmas has become increasingly popular in Vietnam and is now a big event in Ho Chi Minh City. In Vietnam, Christmas Eve is often more important than Christmas day! From the middle of December, guests can experience a very different festive season in the busy city with Christmas decorations, colorful lights and shimmering ornaments in almost every corner. Catholicity’s would make fantastic spots to visit. While district 1 and 7 are famous for the majestic light shows, some areas where most residents are Catholic such as Pham The Hien street in district 8, guests can see the mangers and statues of religious figures displayed in front of their homes. As usual, an entire street is often fully decorated, turning it into a Christmas wonderland!
Taipei - 2017 Taipei New Year's Eve Countdown Party, 31 Dec 2016. Massive crowds gather around the Taipei New Year's Eve Countdown Party every year in front of the City Hall, located right next to Grand Hyatt Taipei and Taipei 101. All of the biggest names in music take turn to entertain crowds for over 5 hours of non-stop live performances. Reserve a front row seat and welcome in the New Year in style. 2016 Taipei Biennial, 10 September 2016 - 5 February 2017. The Taipei Biennial is the most important exhibition for promoting contemporary art held by the Taipei Fine Arts Museum since 1998. The Taipei Biennial has introduced new artistic ideas from around the world that act as a driver of dialogue between Taiwan and other cultures, becoming a primary symbol of Taiwan's contemporary art development and international artistic exchange. The 2016 Taipei Biennial marks the tenth in the series since its beginning, bearing witness to nearly 20 years of development in the transmutation and narrative transformation in a given geo-cultural context.
Bangkok - In remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Thailand is a beautiful and dynamic country and our Hyatt hotels in Thailand continue to delight and care for guests. There is no reason not to visit at this time. During this mourning period, we advise all travellers to act respectfully particularly in the vicinity of the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Travellers are not expected to wear black but we would like to recommend muted coloured clothing. If not, it is possible to wear black ribbon to pin on your shirt.
